A statement released by Brussels two days before the 90th anniversary of an alleged Armenian genocide came as a relief to Ankara as Turkey had been facing pressure from the international community -- mostly due to Armenian lobbying. The European Commission, in the statement, highlighted and appreciated Ankara's diplomatic efforts towards Yerevan in dealing with the issue. "
