Brussels-based think-tank Friends of Europe has developed four possible scenarios for Turkey's European Union accession process, from a 'Major train crash' to 'Full steam ahead.'
The report prepared by Kristy Hughes, one of the organization's analysts, describes Turkey and the Union as seeming to be at loggerheads, since on 'the Turkish side, there are growing doubts as to whether the EU is serious about the ultimate goal of Turkish membership and on the EU side there are concerns over the slowdown of reforms in Turkey, combined with the Union's own loss of momentum over its stalled constitution with is feeding into doubts on enlargement in general.'
