Turkey has sought to reassure investors that its economic policy remains unchanged despite a row over the appointment of its central bank chief.

President Ahmet Necdet Sezer rejected the Islamist government's choice for central bank governor on Saturday.

Investors have criticised the selection process and resultant uncertainty, fearing it will weaken the currency.

But Turkey's finance minister said that ensuring financial stability remained the government's main priority."
