"Turkey angry with French 'sabotage' of EU accession talks
Turkey reacted yesterday France's move to complicate accession talks by including 'political criteria' in the negotiations on education and culture, which Ankara views a merely technical chapter.
Turkish Deputy Undersecretary Ahmet Acet conveyed Turkey's uneasiness with the French-sponsored suggestion during a regular meeting of the EU-Turkish Association Committee in Brussels yesterday. Ambassador Acet told his European counterparts that in the previous talks with other candidate countries, the EU did not apply such a rule, and an introduction of such a process now for Turkey will be a special treatment and regarded as unacceptable."
