WASHINGTON -- Like a single pool ball crashing into clusters of others and sending them spinning in all directions, the news of the unexpected German elections is reverberating across Europe.
It spells potential disaster for Turkey's moderate Islamic government, which has pinned most of its foreign and domestic policies on its bid to join the European Union. But it also throws into confusion the plans of the Brussels-based European Commission to secure agreement on the EU budget for the next six-year funding period and threatens the euro currency with a new credibility problem. "
