Turkish officials yesterday brushed aside France's rejection of the EU constitution, saying they will press forward with talks to join the bloc despite questions about the EU's future.

French voters turned down the EU constitution on Sunday night, throwing the future of the bloc, which Turkey aspires to join, into disarray. Voters were reacting against the tighter integration that the constitution called for, with some opposed to allowing Turkey, an overwhelmingly poor and Muslim nation, to join."
