US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice suggested that an EU exclusion of 'Turkey as a member' could be a �fatal mistake�. Answering a question about the new EU Constitution at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, Rice said, �It is important that Turkey is admitted as a member after it has fulfilled the necessary criteria. A conflict between Turkey and the rest of Europe could have unwanted results.�"
