"ANKARA NOT AGAINST FORMING ARMENIAN-TURKISH INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Turkish authorities do not object to Armenian and Turkish officials participation in the commission for study of the events of 1915, reported Anadolu Turkish agency referring to governmental sources. According to the source, two commissions can be formed. One of them can be composed of historians, the second � of Armenian and Turkish Government officials. Official Ankara also supposes that German, Russian, British and American historians may join their Armenian and Turkish colleagues. It should be noted that earlier Erdogan had sent a letter to the President of Armenia proposing to form a group composed of historians and other experts from Armenia and Turkey that will study not only archives of Armenia and Turkey, but also those of third countries and they will acquaint the international community with the outcomes of their research. In a response letter Robert Kocharian turned down the proposal on forming a historical commission, in exchange suggesting to form an Armenian-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission that may discuss the Armenian Genocide issue among others. "
