Turkey has climbed five places to rank 53rd in the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) released by the World Economic Forum yesterday.
The country is ready to evolve to a more advanced stage of development due to its large market and a comparatively efficient allocation of goods in the economy, the report said and regarded the country at the "second stage" of its economic development together with countries like Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Thailand, Russia and Poland. The United States, Korea, Japan and Luxembourg are among the third stage countries in the report. The GCI is the overall competitiveness ranking of the annual Global Competitiveness Report."
