Turkey closed its air space to planes bound for northern Iraq as part of economic sanctions over the safe haven Kurdish rebels enjoy in the region, the NTV news channel quoted officials as saying Thursday. The measure will target only planes flying to the Kurdish-run north of Iraq and will not affect other parts of the country, NTV said."
