"Greek bank ahead in race for Turkish pact
PARIS/BRUSSELS: Euro zone interest rates are historically low and are bolstering economic growth, European Central Bank policymakers said yesterday.
ECB president Jean-Claude Trichet and other top central bankers also renewed calls for governments to speed up reforms and keep budget deficits in line, particularly given Europe's ageing population.
Their focus backed market expectations that the ECB will raise interest rates again soon, as new figures showed business confidence firming and inflation stubbornly high."
