Mrs.Assma al-Assad: If the Last Century Was the Century of Men , the 21st Century will be the Century of Women :: Syrian Arab News Agency: SANA, Damascus Syria ::Mrs. Assma al-Assad has underlined the Syrian woman’s remarkable progress and pivotal role in spheres of businesses, economy , politics and in all walks of life.
During a meeting with a group of journalists on Friday , she added that Syria’s status in Syria is far better than women in many other countries in the region , because the woman is present in parliament and in the government and plays efficient roles in private and public establishments .
She indicated that since traditions constitute a fundamental reference of the Syrian society , there is still a long way for the woman to get more freedom but gradually the woman will finally be on equal footing with the man.

Mrs. Al-Assad said that because of the geographic proximity and similar traditions and culture, the Syrian and Turkish women have many things in common and both have ambitions and commitment.
