"Lagendijk says Article 301 amendment long overdue
A senior member of the European Parliament has pressed Turkey to amend Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), saying the bloc was tired of listening to pledges from the Turkish government that it will be changed, without any change proposal being formally tabled. 'There has been talk of a change for two years. It is now high time to make this change,' Joost Lagendijk, who is also a co-chair of the Turkey-EU Parliament Joint Parliamentary Committee, told a joint press conference in Ankara held together with the Turkish co-chair, Yaşar Yakış, of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party)."
