"Turkish statesman, scientist Erdal Inonu dies at 81
AFP October 31, 2007 ANKARA -- Erdal Inonu, a prominent Turkish social democrat leader and an internationally renowned physicist, died of leukemia Wednesday at a hospital in Houston, TX, his family said. He was 81. He was the son of Ismet Inonu, who was the closest comrade of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, and his successor as the country's second president."
