IZMIR - Turkish Daily News
Recent activities in the markets have saved the Turkish export industry from falling off a cliff, according to Oğuz Satıcı, head of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).
We predict a small positive movement upwards in foreign exchange rates, towards the end of the year, he said.
During a press conference in Izmir Satıcı said if the rise in the exchange rates had occurred some time earlier, the Turkish economy would be in a much stronger position now. Exchange rate policies of the past were indexed to importation. After the latest increases [in YTL versus the dollar], a healthier development took place in terms of exports, he said. "
