"Palestinian president in Turkey on a two-day visit
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has arrived in Turkey, for talks on the stalled Middle East peace process and the impact of a European freeze on aid to the Hamas-led Palestinian government. Mr. Abbas is to meet with Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his two-day visit. Following the Turkish visit, Mr. Abbas will travel to Norway, Finland and France later this week. Aid was from the United States and the European Union was cut off to the Palestinian government earlier this year, after Hamas refused to renounce violence and recognize Israel. "
