"Turkish government says no democratic backpedaling despite tough new anti-terror measures
In its fight against terrorism Turkey won't fall into the traps set by the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) or make the state backpedal on its progress in the areas of human rights and democratic freedoms, Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul stressed yesterday.
Gul underlined the government's determination to combat terrorism while simultaneously respecting human rights and democratic freedoms before a key parliamentary debate on terrorism."
