In a plenary debate on the recent outbreak of violence in southeastern Turkey, commissioner Markos Kyprianou stated that the Commission was deeply concerned over the terrorist activities of the PKK, which figures on the EU list of terrorist organisations, but also called on the Turkish security forces to show the necessary restraint towards demonstrators."
