"Mine kills 5 as clashes increase in east Turkey
One man was killed and another badly injured in a mine blast in Tunceli, security officials said on Monday.
The officials blamed the blast, which occurred in Tunceli province on Sunday evening, on terrorists of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). In a separate incident on Sunday, two members of the illegal far-left group Turkish Communist Party-Turkish Workers and Peasants’ Liberation Army (TKP-TIKKO) were killed in an operation by the Turkish army in Tunceli. A military official said the members of the group had been holding civilians for ransom."
