"Turkish Bank Launches Europe’s First Commercial PayPass Pilot
Garanti Bank, one of Turkey’s largest banks, has launched Europe’s first commercial trial of contactless payment cards using MasterCard Worldwide’s PayPass application. The bank yesterday began issuing 25,000 PayPass cards to customers of its Bonus credit card program. Up to 120 outlets of two major U.S.-based chains, Starbucks Coffee Co. and Burger King Corp., along with up to 25 theaters that are part of Turkey’s largest cinema chain, Cinebonus, will accept the cards in the capital Istanbul."
