The picture showed a very shy Claudia Roth, late for a meeting with Parliament's European Union Harmonization Committee Chair Yasar Yakis, who was kissing her hand gently as a former, experienced diplomat and foreign minister to indicate that her late arrival was forgiven. Indeed this well-known German politician from the Greens Party has also been well-known to the Turkish public since the 1990s. She's been treated differently too. She was criticized by Ayvaz Gokdemir, a state minister under Prime Minister Tansu Ciller, with some words which shouldn't be used for a woman. Over 10 years there have been two different attitudes shown towards her in different circumstances, though the main player has remained the same. Some have even gone so far as to suggest that in Turkey she'd be elected a politician if she were to run in elections. A typical Turkish exaggeration and overstatement. Our advice to Roth: Don't take that seriously!"
