"Violence erupts in south-east Turkey

Ankara - Nine Kurdish rebels and three Turkish soldiers were killed in clashes in south-eastern Turkey near the Iraqi border, the Turkish military said on Tuesday.
Five soldiers were also wounded in the fighting that erupted on Monday during a military operation in the mountains of Sirnak province against the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), said a statement on the General Staff website."
