"Turkey’s Judicial Coup D’etat Could Be Untasty for U.S?

Apparently so. According to this Newsweek article by Morton Abramowitz and Henri J. Barkey, Turkey’s chief prosecutor prepared an indictment of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) last month. It charges the nation’s ruling political party with violating the Consitutional principle of secularism and seeks to dissolve the party altogether. Abramowitz and Barkey argue that America should care about this, and not in a cutely condescending, isn’t-it-interestin’-how-them-politics-of-small-lil’- countries-work kinda way, but rather, in an oh-shit-this-could-be-bad-for- American-interests kinda way.
