"Babacan: Attention Should Be Paid To Source Of Current Account Deficit
ANKARA - Turkish State Minister and chief negotiator for EU talks Ali Babacan said that additional 16.5 billion USD were paid for the energy imports in 2006, underlining that attention should be paid to determine the source of current account deficit.
Talking to press members today, Babacan said, just in the case that the bill on energy had not been too much, the current account deficit would have been 4.2 points lower.
Stressing that current account deficit was an issue which they monitored closely, Babacan said, 'However, it is not an issue that would cause a big concern. People have to be realistic while making analysis'."
