"EU Commission clears €38 million aid to Turkish Cypriots

BRUSSELS, Belgium The European Commission on Friday cleared €38 million (US$48 million) in aid to the Turkish Cypriots as part of a plan to help boost the economy in the northern part of the island and bring it closer to the EU.
"It is another step by the EU towards putting an end to the isolation of this community and thus facilitating the reunification of Cyprus," said Olli Rehn, the EU enlargement commissioner."
