The European Union is passing through -- indeed plunging further into -- one of the worst crises since its inception. We might not be happy watching it, but in this crisis atmosphere there is and will be some fallout over Turkey's EU ambitions. We had better realize that this is a time during which Turkey must avoid emotional uproar and remain as dedicated and committed as ever to its European vocation."
