The European Commission has announced it will plough on with Turkish EU membership, despite internal divisions and fierce debate over Ankara's admittance to the EU bloc.
Brussels adopted a draft mandate to start negotiations on October 3, after an extended and 'argumentative' meeting of all 25 commissioners on Wednesday, reflecting differing views within the commission on Turkey's EU entry."
