"EU: PERA, NO GRADING, BUT COMPARISON WITH TURKEY
(AGI) - Istanbul, Turkey, Feb 23 - 'The process for Turkey's entry into the EU must be used positively by Turkey as well: it's not the case that the EU has to grade Turkey, but a comparison is necessary', said Senate Speaker Marcello Pera, meeting the community of Italian entrepreneurs in Istanbul. The EU must not even give grades on the religious fundamentalist phenomenon. According to Pera it is necessary to 'monitor' the phenomenon but 'it is not Europe that must give grades, it would not be right or opportune, even considering recent and current Turkish history. The monitoring must be made by Turkey itself, i.e. it should face the open issues. (AGI) . "
