"Main opposition backs Sezer

The president doesn't intend to create tension; that's being done by the government, not the president, stated main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal yesterday.
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on Wednesday issued a very stern warning against both Islamist fundamentalism and separatism, both of which he warned are escalating in Turkey.
Speaking on private channel NTV yesterday, Baykal said that every word in Sezer's speech was true, blaming the government for rising tension at the top of the state."
