"Babacan: Majority consensus crucial for Turkey's EU membership

Turkey's chief European Union negotiator this weekend stated that there will always be some states that don't support Ankara's membership, underlining that the consensus of the majority is crucial for joining the bloc.
Speaking at an informative EU negotiations process meeting for the agriculture and rural development and the fisheries chapters, Ali Babacan lashed out at certain European politicians who use Turkey's EU process for domestic political fodder by saying, 'The view of governments, leaders and especially the majority is important for Turkey to join the EU.'"
