"Turks release Greek Cypriot who strayed into buffer zone
THE 43-YEAR-old Greek Cypriot who was arrested in the occupied areas for dumping garbage in the buffer zone was yesterday released on bail, police said.
Vassos Vassiliou, who was arrested by authorities in the north in the Potamia area on Tuesday, was released after paying a Turkish Cypriot ‘court’ €500. He was told to re-appear on January 29.
Police said Vassiliou’s car had also been held by the authorities in the north.
The 43-year-old said he had not been mistreated in any way."
