Iraq halts oil exports to Turkey temporarily

"Iraq halts oil exports to Turkey temporarily

(Updates with oil ministry spokesman comments)
BAGHDAD/DUBAI, Jan 28 (Reuters) - Iraq has temporarily halted crude exports through a pipeline from its northern fields to Turkey's port of Ceyhan and plans to pump oil intermittently to discourage saboteurs, the oil ministry said on Monday.
'We have stopped pumping,' Oil Ministry spokesman Asim Jihad said. 'We are halting pumping when we reach certain levels of crude in Ceyhan. Iraq is pumping crude oil intermittently to Ceyhan in order to avoid sabotage against the pipelines.'
Jihad did not say how intermittent pumping would help to prevent sabotage, nor give details on what storage level would trigger future stoppages."
