Portugal opposes French target to redefine Europe's borders
Portuguese State Secretary for European Affairs Lobo Antunes opposed a request by France to start a discussion on the final borders of Europe, stating that a new debate on enlargement and borders was not an urgent matter for the European Union. Restating his country's strong commitment to Turkey's membership in the European Union, Antunes also pointed at the obligation of the European Union to remain transparent and in good faith during negotiations. "
