There was that moment in 2000 when Mehmet Emin Karamehmet, head of Turkey's then-sprawling Çukorova Group stood on the podium of the New York Stock Exchange to herald the first Turkish listing. That company was Turkcell, and Chairman Karamehmet was then said to be worth more than $10 billion.Karamehmet has since then lost control of Turkcell and much more, as competition erased more than 90 percent of his wealth."
