"The EU Commission Holds Turkey Accountable
Wednesday , 29 November 2006
Fatma Yilmaz – JTW/Ankara - The EU Commission has recommended that the negotiations with Turkey should be suspended on 8 chapters. The recommendation of the Commision was in contrast to the general expectations about the possible suspension just for 4 or 6 chapters among the total of 35. The Chef de Cabinet of the EU Commission assembled in Brussels in order to determine the recommendation to be given to the Council on Cyprus issue. Expressing its recommendation on not opening the negotiations for 8 chapters, the EU Commission has punished Turkey and therefore created ground for the unjust proposals of the Greek Cypriots about the possible solution on Cyprus issue"
