ANKARA, July 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Visiting Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Walid Al Muallim said here Friday that the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) is outlawed in Syria and Damascus considers PKK as a terrorist organization.
The PKK, which is branded a terrorist group by Ankara, took up arms for Kurdish independence in southeast Turkey in 1984. Since then the conflict has claimed some 37,000 lives. "
