Turkey deserves support in congressional resolution

On Aug. 2, congressmen Ed Whitfield R-Ky., and Alcee Hastings, D-Fla., introduced House Resolution 772 that voices U.S. support for Turkey, a key NATO ally, in its struggle against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), also known as the Kongra-Gel. The resolution is currently referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. Earlier in June, a similar Senate Resolution 486 was introduced on the subject by senators Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.; John McCain, R-Ariz,; Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H.; and Marco Rubio, R-Fla.; and referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
