Cyprus drilling is not provocation

Sir, We were appalled to read Daniel Dombey’s article “Ankara shows region its assertive side”, (September 21). Mr Dombey implied that the Republic of Cyprus was being provocative by undertaking exploratory drilling for gas in its own territorial waters. The European Union, the UK, the US and all nations and organisations that abide by international law unequivocally support Cyprus’s right to explore its offshore waters.
