Washington is increasingly critical of Turkey, a “model partner” of the United States and NATO ally since 1952.
Political analysts, for example, cite Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s recent populist attacks on Israel and steadfast support of Iran to prove that Ankara has “switched sides.” Not so long ago, they point out, Ankara was the neoconservatives’ toast of the town."
