Brussels. Turkey will implement the Ankara Protocol to extend its customs union to Cyprus if the Turkish Cypriots’ isolation is suspended, Turkey’s Chief EU Negotiator Ali Babacan said in Brussels, the Greek newspaper Naftemporiki reported. Babacan stressed that Ankara was forming a new strategy, which also concerned the eight negotiation chapters of Turkey’s EU talks, which could not be opened. Ali Babacan said he had been assured that four negotiation chapters would be opened before the end of Germany’s EU Presidency, that is June 30, 2007. "
