The European Union's executive arm hopes the bloc will extend membership talks with Turkey to four new policy areas in the first half of 2007, a spokeswoman said on Friday. "The European Commission hopes ... to see up to four chapters opened (by the end of) the German presidency," the European Commission's spokeswoman for enlargement, Krisztina Nagy, told a daily news briefing."
