Forty years after the invasion and the start of the Turkish occupation of Cyprus one of the island’s oldest and still most passionate friends in the House of Commons, Sir Alan Meale, declares his optimism that “we’ll all wake up one day and it will be over and we’ll all wonder why it took so long to do that.”
