Turkey will likely become a member of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in October, with many describing this as an important step toward European Union membership.Sources close to the bank report that the newly appointed president of the EBRD, Thomas Mirow, is in favor of Turkey’s membership in the bank, also noting that a decision to offer Turkey EBRD membership will likely be given in a majority vote, if not a unanimous one."
