Reading an article in The Wall Street Journal's Aug. 18 edition by Soner Cagaptay -- the director of the Turkish Research Program at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and an assistant professor at Georgetown University -- on the political transformation in Turkey since the Nov. 3, 2002 parliamentary elections, which brought the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) to power with a landslide win, I was appalled.
