There appears to be �frustration� among our Israeli as well as American friends that Turkey was engaged �again� in some sort of a �horse trading� before it committed its troops to a U.N. force to be deployed in southern Lebanon. They know as well that the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) administration is �damn decided� about sending Turkish troops there, but they are very much worried that this �extended bargaining tactic� of the AKP government may have a backlash in Parliament, as it did on March 1, 2003, and result in the Turkish legislature saying, �No, we better stay away from the Middle East quicksand.� "
