A campaign currently being waged through the Internet has provided virtual guardians for 2,224 children, with 1,537 still waiting for help, according to the Anatolia news agency.
The campaign's Web site states that the basic goal of the project is to meet the educational needs of working children through financial support and to encourage reluctant children to go to rehabilitation centers. In addition to obtaining a traditional education the children will be given the opportunity to benefit from various sports and music activities after they start going to the centers and enroll in school."
