The president of the Austrian Parliament said yesterday that Turkey would not be ready to join the European Union for at least two decades and Germany's president insisted that Turkey's accession talks with the 25-nation bloc, set to start in October, should be open-ended, citing cultural and religious differences and difficulties of transforming mentalities."
