Cultural factors related to gender and ethnicity were sometimes harmful and sometimes beneficial in relation to meat consumption, the researchers found

The idea that ‘real men’ eat meat could stand in the way of goals to improve dietary sustainability and health, according to a new study published in Appetite.

The researchers examined the link between meat and masculinity in different ethnic groups in The Netherlands and found significant meat-related gender differences between second generation Chinese Dutch, Turkish Dutch and native Dutch.
