Turkey’s double standards on freedom of speech are frightening
While sharply polarizing Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was able to unite the US Senate last Wednesday. US Senator Charles E. Schumer and 73 other senators wrote to Secretary of State John Kerry to urge the State Department to promptly address the preservation of “the basic principles of democracy” and to speak up against violations of press freedom in Turkey.
