There’s nowhere better for a coffee and a borek than Istanbul’s hip Cihangir

The affordable Cihangir Hotel ( is short on charm but perfectly located for exploring Cihangir and beyond. The entrance is down a slightly sketchy corridor, the staff speaks little English, and the breakfast was largely composed of cocktail wieners. But the price is right and the rooms are serviceable, so why not spring for a room with a Bosphorus view?
